2022 Excellence in Club Management® Award Winners Announced

McMahon Group and National Club Association (NCA) have announced the 2022 recipients of the Excellence in Club Management® (ECM) Awards. The awards were established in 1997 by the McMahon Group and have been

co-sponsored by NCA since 2018.

Award winners are selected through nominations submitted on behalf of qualified candidates by other parties. Award recipients are selected solely on the basis of their achievements at the club they currently manage; “lifetime achievements” are not considered.

The Selection Committee for the 2022 Awards was chaired by David Chag, CCM, Senior Advisor and former General Manager/Chief Operating Officer of The Country Club in Brookline, Mass. The 2022 Excellence in Club Management winners are:

  1. The James H. Brewer Award (Country/Golf Clubs with 600 or More Full-Privilege Members) – M. Kent Johnson, CCM, ECM, General Manager/Chief Operating Officer, Baltimore Country Club
  2. The Mead Grady Award (Country/Golf Clubs with Fewer than 600 Full-Privilege Members) – Michael Stacks, ECM, General Manager, Indian Hills Country Club
  3. The Mel Rex Award (City, Athletic or Specialty (Non-Golf) Club) – Steve Cummings, CCM, CCE, ECM, General Manager, Harvard Club of Boston
  4. The Rising Star Award (Assistant Manager) – Tai Tran, CCM, ECM, Assistant General Manager, Detroit Athletic Club

The 2022 ECM Award winners will be honored at a ceremony and dinner on May 16, 2022 as part of NCA’s 2022 National Club Conference in Charleston, S.C. The Conference agenda will also include a panel discussion by the winners on May 17 that will be moderated by Frank Vain, President, McMahon Group.

Bryan has 3 beautiful children with his lovely wife Angela – Cydney, Mason and Hannah. Being an active person he likes to spend most of his leisure time outdoors fishing, hunting, golfing and riding ATV’s. He is a former athlete and also a sports fanatic, which is why he loves being deeply involved in many of his children’s activities.
