FROM THE VICE PRESIDENT The sounds of summer are running vibrantly through many clubs with the sweet sound of golf balls being hit, the laughter and screams of children in the pool and the boisterous reactions of bocce players on the courts. While we are enjoying summer, the fall season will be here before you know it. Now is a good time to start laying the groundwork for your planning initiatives so they can get going in the new season. We, as a firm, are big proponents of truly understanding who you are as a club before you take that big dive into a facility project - knowwho you are before you build what you need. Frank Vain further explains the importance of this initial first step as you embark on a capital project. The next article in our facility-focused series discusses the importance of thoroughly understanding all aspects of your facilities-from existing conditions to member perceptions-before you begin your planning process. Tom Strutz further emphasizes the importance of an initial survey in not only developing a facility program, but getting it approved.
