The McMahon Quality Index® (MQI®) Program is offered to private club managers and Boards to assist them in driving club success by maximizing member satisfaction with their clubs. It is totally based on each club’s own members and how they perceive their club. 

Why We Developed The McMahon Quality Index® (MQI®)

McMahon Group has been surveying private club members for over 40 years to help Boards and managers understand what their members want for their clubs. Our focus-group and survey process is the only comprehensive research in the club industry for determining member input and satisfaction with all club offerings for overall satisfaction, value received for cost and activity/facility satisfaction achievement. But one thing missing for the club industry has been a private club quality index that we could be assured was based on each club’s own members, rather than unknown groups that rate clubs based on their own opinions of quality.

With our extensive data trove of valuable member information from each club’s own members, we have been able to establish a private club Quality Index for identifying the best to the average clubs in North America. Most importantly, not only do we identify a club’s strengths and weaknesses, we also know how to help clubs improve and grow in success once we have good survey information to work with.  

McMahon’s private-club research, through surveys and focus groups, has been able to quantify a meaningful private club Quality Index so we can now assess club-quality levels in meaningful categories. This can help clubs build programs for enhancing member satisfaction.

The five quality levels for a club’s achievement are based on the McMahon’s Quality Index® scoring system below:

Available Ways to Determine Your Club’s McMahon Quality Index® For Quality Achievement

  1. McMahon Quality Index® is provided free with McMahon’s primary survey.  Every club that completes the entire McMahon primary survey with its membership after January 1, 2020, will be able to receive a complimentary McMahon Quality Index® score and quality category achievement upon request with results only reported to the manager and Board.
  2. McMahon Quality Index® is also provided in a special MQI® membership survey for a low fee. Clubs wanting to just identify their McMahon Quality Index® score and quality achievement category can do so with a three-question mini-survey sent to its membership. That survey is done online and tabulated by McMahon Group, with results reported to the manager and Board. 

This survey-based McMahon Quality Index® Program offering has a survey fee of $3,000 plus the Qualtrix tablulation charges, depending on the survey’s membership response. The survey program takes about two months to complete and has the club itself sending out McMahon’s MQI® survey questionnaire to protect the privacy and security of the club’s membership. Each club’s results from the MQI® program are confidential and only available to the specific club and not to the public or other clubs. Clubs using the MQI® survey program are free to use their own club’s MQI™ rating results as they please.
